Syggrafeus Alpha 03 release: Functional & Multi-lingual.

Hot on the heels of Alpha 02, here's the third in the series of Syggrafeus alphas. Here's brief synopsis of what's changed:

• It's actually usable! It doesn't lock any more after switching to the first language. In face, you can switch languages (and keyboard masks) as often as you like -- even back to the system default -- without incident.
• It saves files now. 'Nuff said.
• Select Your Input Language. At first, you can enter system-default text. Use the language selector to switch between Monotonic Greek, Polytonic Greek, and your system's default language. Watch the toolbar change to accomodate your request.
• Diacriticals can be toggled from the keyboard... sort of! Works perfectly on Windows and Linux, but Mac OS X has some outstanding problems in some cases, where some diacritical keyboard shortcuts conflict with OS-defined behavior.

Syggrafeus is a software package I'm developing to facilitate Unicode text authoring, particularly in the context of providing a means to access non-Roman characters. The application is a test case for the Rosetta Stone Library. Syggrafeus' license is the GNU GPL. The Rosetta Stone Library will be released under the terms of the GNU LGPL.

The first language I'll be developing for is Greek; both the monotonic (ie modern or demotic) and polytonic writing systems. This is primarily because this project started out with a desire to exchange email with my cousins in Greece. Other languages will follow, eventually even Hebrew and Arabic, although I'm not looking forward to implementing the right-to-left text entry thing!

For the curious, the term is derived from the Greek word for "author."
